Extension of the non-objection period until 31.03.2021

Contrary to the 30 September 2020 deadline set by the Federal Ministry of Finance, almost all federal states have now announced an extension of the non-objection period until 31 March 2021. However, a prerequisite for claiming the extension of the deadline is that a binding order for retrofitting must be placed with the cash register dealer in good time.

On 30 June 2020, the Federal Ministry of Finance sent a letter to a number of associations confirming 30 September 2020 as the deadline for the mandatory use of a Technical Security Device (TSE) in cash registers.
In contrast, almost all federal states have now announced an extension of the non-objection period until 31 March 2021. However, a prerequisite for claiming the extension of the deadline is that a binding order for retrofitting must be placed with the cash register dealer in good time. The following deadlines apply in the federal states for commissioning retrofitting:

  • 30.08.2020: Berlin
  • 31.08.2020: Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony
  • 30.09.2020: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, Thuringia
  • no delay: Bremen
